The Center for Cultural Activities
The Center for Cultural Activities houses cultural, artistic, and athletic workshops for students and the UTM community. It also provides its members with opportunities for growth through recreation, education, and artistic participation.
Every currently-registered student of UTM can participate. It is preferible to register in the first few weeks of the semester.
Participation in the various clubs is free, as the goals of these clubs is not economic. These activities seek to complement the academic education of its participants in the following three ways: by enriching their cultural horizons, by broadening their vision and capacity for social action, and by developing their artistic abilities. These components are vital for the education and growth of the whole person.
In addition to the various clubs, the Center for Cultural Activities offers the followwing:
- Study Halls, where you can work in small groups, study, and do homework on your computer, now that the facilities are equipped with wireless internet.
- Wing for temporary exhibits, where artistic exhibits (among others, paintings, photographs, sculpture and graphic design) are frequently displayed.
- Multiple-Use Rooms, where there are viewings of videos, general-interest conferences, and club meetings.
- UTM Cine Club in which series of movies are shown every wednesday at 7 P.M. These films arouse an interesti in the so-called 'Seventh Art' and contribute to the cultural formation of the University Community.
- Conversations with Writers, for which we invite a writer once a month with whom we can discuss literary topics.
- Musical Appreciation, during which, once a month, we listen to jazz, fusion, and other kinds of music with an expert.
